
Instrumentation Design Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an Instrumentation Design Engineer for an on‑site 12‑month contract with an aerospace manufacturing client in Lynn, MA. The Engineer will take ownership of the design, analysis, application, and routing of unique instrumentation packages needed to facilitate development testing and related qualification/certification of gas turbine aircraft engines.
Pay Rate
$35.00–$45.00 per hour; negotiable based on experience, education, location, and other factors.
Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, application, and routing packages of unique instrumentation to components, subassemblies, or systems critical to development engine and rig tests.
Collaborate with stakeholders in and outside of Test Systems Engineering on requirements definition for instrumentation application and routing solutions for components, subassemblies, rigs, and full engines.
Provide Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing input to internal customers on reworks needed for engine components to accommodate sensor applications, routing and egress.
Use internal standards and historical application data to identify sensor application methodologies that may include but are not limited to various epoxies, glues, silicone‑rubber and spot‑welding.
Apply electrical science and mechanical background to specify thermocouple wire, hypodermic tube, strain gauges, accelerometers, and other instrumentation to support development engine testing and collection of quality data.
Prepare and present technical data to senior technical leaders, internal and external customers relevant to instrumentation applications.
Generate work instructions and oversee instrumentation applications and routing efforts completed by the company’s internal and external shops to ensure the quality of the product.
Drive initiatives to minimize the risk of failures at test.
Document and communicate results of generated technical data; assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering, IT, scientific, or other technical position.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently, solve problems, and document, plan, and execute programs.
