Job Shift: Day Travel Percentage: None
Description
Hours - Part Time 0.5 FTE, Monday and Friday 0630 - 1700, 20 hours weekly
Duties
Work collaboratively with hospital staff to schedule procedures, organize resources, receive patients, and provide administrative assistance.
Surgery Scheduling: Verify insurance pre-authorization, schedule surgeries, confirm surgeon block times, and ensure adequate resources.
Patient Access: Serve as department receptionist, answer telephone calls, and register patients.
Administrative Assistance: Order supplies, complete projects, maintain confidentiality, and perform additional administrative functions.
Perform other duties assigned by Director.
Qualifications
Effectively collaborate with hospital staff and medical staff members toward provision of pre-operative, inter-operative, and post-operative care to surgical patients.
Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA
Must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent interpersonal skills
Must be highly motivated
Work well with a team and have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is required (e.g., physician office, clinic or hospital)
Experience in customer service is very desirable
Hospital registration or admitting experience is desirable
Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, surgical procedures, and health care billing and authorization understanding is required
Must be able to type 40+ wpm Strong computer skills.
Familiar with Excel, Word, Windows, and EPIC EHR a plus
Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented
Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization
