Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at University of Chicago Medicine as a Film Clerk Coordinator in the RadiologyDepartment. Here, you will perform clerical work of moderate difficulty, overseeing the maintenance of medical x-ray image files, ranging from X-Rays, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasounds, Nuclear Medicine Exam, PET Scans, Fluoroscopy Exams, Echocardiograms, Cardiac Exams, Breast Imaging. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Essential Job Functions
Exercises the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) at all times ensuring patients’ privacy by requesting a completed and signed Authorization to Use and Disclose Health Information form when Medical Images are being requested by the patient or any other entity.
Processing imaging requests with the use of Ambra and PACs for uploading external medical images and medical image share with external entities.
Consistently, accurately, and thoroughly performs the medical image search procedure for both current and previous images for all modalities.
Responds promptly to requests for image information or materials.
Performs digital image movement to a Disc/ DVD or send images electronically via Ambra Health.
Processes image sharing requests and mails them via FedEx or sends images electronically via Ambra Health.
Process request for second opinions
Performs procedure for outside contractors' requests, deliveries, and shipments
Performs cleanup and maintenance procedures
Performs supply acquisition and process
Answers telephone calls and follows telephone requests through to completion
Receives telephone copy requests for films and reviews request form for accuracy
Work on Image sharing requests which can be in person, e-mail, faxed or in an Order Work Queue.
When applicable, creates a CD/ DVD with the requested Medical Image (s), packages and mails the disc(s).
Works well independently in areas as assigned
Functions as a team player in a "team work" environment
Trains new Film File Clerks
Performs related duties as assigned.
Performs other duties assigned.
High level of customer interaction and communication required.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or satisfactory completion of G.E.D
Six months medical records or radiology filing experience
Considerable knowledge of numeric filing systems, i.e., the terminal digit system
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Professional telephone skills
Diplomacy, courtesy, and excellent customer service skills are
