
Senior Plumbing Engineering Design Professional

HOK is currently seeking a Sr Plumbing Engineering Design Professional to join an expanding team in Texas (Dallas or Houston). Be a part of a fun, friendly, and dynamic team as we continue success in the Texas market!
As a Sr Plumbing Engineering Design Professional, you are responsible for the successful delivery of large building projects, including managing and mentoring the team of engineers in a particular discipline on the project, developing concepts, and producing the design of plumbing and fire suppression systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Looks for ways to improve engineering design and design processes in a particular discipline.
Able to guide the development of Revit tools to improve productivity.
Development of typical details, specifications, and drawing standards, including development of Revit standards in coordination with the BIM team.
Keeping abreast of industry and technology changes and trends, and recommend changes in approach and services as appropriate.
Improvement of analytic processes and documentation, common solutions, and critical solutions.
Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
90% time devoted to the engineering of projects, particularly large or complex projects.
Responsibility for the project engineering of large projects from concept and schematic design through construction documents to construction and commissioning.
Provide design inputs and reviews of other engineers' projects.
Develops, modifies and reviews Revit models of plumbing and fire suppression systems and components according to governing codes, established standards and Revit modeling techniques, based on input from the plumbing engineering team. Creates project drawings from the Revit model.
Develops flow diagrams, riser diagrams, control diagrams, equipment schedules, details, and similar project documents using Revit.
Organizes and maintains Revit models and design documents for multiple projects.
Develops plumbing and fire protection system specifications.
Prepares calculations necessary for the plumbing and fire suppression systems design.
Attend meetings with clients and promote positive client contact with current or prospective clients.
Participate as a team member, contributing ideas and possible solutions, and leading on issues where appropriate.
Perform site visit surveys to determine engineering strategies for renovation, and to document and evaluate existing systems.
Visit project sites during construction for reviews of quality, progress, and compliance with specifications and standards.
Project reviews at all stages of design.
Works closely with project team and assists to complete projects on aggressive schedules.
Responsible for the quality and timely delivery of the projects to budget.
Mentoring of less experienced engineering staff on projects.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Associate degree or Technology degree required. Bachelor's degree in architectural or mechanical engineering preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of plumbing and fire suppression system design experience working on a wide variety of building types, such as: commercial, corporate, institutional and civic, justice, science and technology, aviation, or healthcare facilities.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or licensed PE preferred.
ASPE CPD credentials preferred (required within first year of HOK employment).
LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred (required within first year of HOK employment).
Experience in design and delivery of LEED Gold or Platinum projects.
Experience with architecturally significant buildings.
Engineering design and analysis of plumbing and fire suppression systems and components for large complex buildings.
Experience with high purity water systems, compressed air and specialty gas systems.
Experience with construction administration and commissioning phases, particularly problem analysis and solutions, on both large and small jobs.
