Powder Coating Operator
Prepares parts for wash and powder coating process. Maintains chemicals, parts, and materials for successful control of inventory for assembly and shipping departments. Reports production and records data in accordance with department requirements. Load and unload parts from paint line conveyor system. Applies paint material to unfinished parts according to instruction.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Paints all required castings based on Kanban and production needs.
- Is familiar with operation of powder coat system & processes in accordance with training matrix functions.
- Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment as required per PM requirements.
- Adjusts chemical concentrations and records data per wash system instructions.
- Handles chemicals in accordance with SDS labeling and manufacturer's instructions.
- Operates and adjusts powder application equipment to optimize finish and minimize powder consumption.
- Participates in team meetings and projects.
- Follows instructions of Supervisor and Team Leader in a courteous manner.
- Works with fellow department and company members in a courteous manner.
- Reports any deficiencies in equipment operation or processes to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition to 6S standards.
- Complies with all company rules and policies.
- Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing needs with minimal supervision.
- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the Quality Department per defined rejection process.
- Demonstrates ability to use pneumatic tools to perform job tasks.
- Operates overhead cranes as necessary.
- Operates electric pallet jack and powered tilter as necessary.
- Held responsible and accountable to follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and use good safety judgment. Expected to report all unsafe activities and conditions to the Supervisor and/or Safety Representative.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Able to lift product up to 51 lbs. Ability to work under pressure and time sensitivity. Experience with powder coating operations preferred.
Education/Training:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of weight, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Ability to use personal computer skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
Work Schedule/Hours:
- Sunday - Friday with typical business hours. Frequently work 9 and 10 hour shifts with some Saturday work based on department needs.

Working Conditions:
Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor production setting with adequate ventilation. Summer temperatures occasionally reach in excess of 100F. Noise is considered loud (CNC machines, air fans and air filter system).
