Description
We invite applications for a full-time non-tenure track position as Lecturer, Assistant Professor of Practice, or Associate Professor of Practice in Marketing , starting in Fall 2026. The marketing area includes faculty with research interests in consumer well-being, broadly defined. We value collegiality, innovation, and impact.
Focus: Marketing courses, including consumer well-being, social media marketing, new product development, B2B marketing, and sales.
Responsibilities
Develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in marketing.
Contribute to curriculum development and innovation.
Build and maintain strong connections with industry partners and create engagement opportunities for students.
Mentor students through clubs, internships, case competitions, and career development initiatives.
Participate in service activities within the Marketing area, College of Business, and the University.
Teach and mentor students in person on campus.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
For Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice: Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in marketing or a related field from an accredited institution.
For Lecturer: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent or higher) in marketing or a related field from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated track record of, or strong potential for, excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of excellence in teaching across modalities and with diverse student populations.
Strong connections with the marketing industry and demonstrated ability (or clear plan) to build partnerships.
Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration across units at SBU.
For Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice: a track record of, or demonstrated potential to publish in marketing or related journals consistent with AACSB scholarly academic status.
For Lecturer: a track record of professional engagement consistent with AACSB practitioner status.
Distinction Between Ranks
Assistant Professor of Practice : Early- to mid-career candidates with demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and contributions to curriculum, industry engagement, and scholarly activity.
Associate Professor of Practice : Candidates with a more established record of sustained excellence, typically including approximately 6 years of experience in a research- and teaching-active faculty role, along with demonstrated impact in curriculum development and/or program building, strong industry engagement, and a consistent record of scholarly or applied contributions.
