The Program in Statistical and Data Sciences and the Journalism Concentration at Smith College invite applications for a 3‑year, half‑time, benefits‑eligible Lecturer position beginning July 1, 2026.

Teaching Responsibilities: The Lecturer will teach three courses per academic year, including data journalism, a journalism capstone or introductory course, and a third course in the candidate’s area of specialization. All courses will be taught in person on Smith’s campus in Northampton, MA.

Qualifications: Candidates should be practicing journalists with experience in data analysis; proficiency in R is preferred. A Master’s degree in journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Benefits and Compensation: A competitive benefits package is provided. The starting pay range is typically between $37,100 and $38,100, with actual compensation varying based on individual qualifications.
