Position Summary
The Part-Time Librarian is responsible for overseeing library services, supporting student research, maintaining learning resources, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. This role offers flexible scheduling and is ideal for a librarian seeking part-time or supplemental work in an academic setting.
Schedule & Compensation
Flexible hours (up to 10 hours per week). Schedule can be coordinated based on institutional needs and candidate availability. Compensation commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain library collections (physical and/or digital)
Assist students and faculty with research and information literacy
Support accreditation and compliance requirements related to library services
Maintain cataloging and classification systems (e.g., OCLC, Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress)
Evaluate and recommend new resources aligned with our programs
Ensure accessibility of learning resources for students and faculty
Develop and update library policies and procedures as needed
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLIS/MLS) from an ALA‑accredited program preferred
Bachelor’s degree with relevant library or research experience will be considered
Experience in an academic, technical, or career college library setting preferred
Familiarity with accreditation standards (NAST or similar) is a plus
Strong organizational, communication, and research support skills
Experience with digital resources, databases, and catalog systems
Must be able to lift books for shelving and cataloging purposes
