Position Overview Position Summary: This position works closely with students, faculty, staff and public patrons to provide library services for the Kilgore College Watson Library. Great communication skills and patience to work at the patron’s pace are essential. Nights and weekends are required.
Position Responsibilities Reference duties including awareness of changes in content of databases, assisting students from The Writing Studio, and answering Ask-A-Librarian questions.
Open/Close library as scheduled.
Support student & part-time workers including: screen students to hire, communicate with Work-Study personnel and HR, develop work schedule, train, and supervise.
Manage library social media accounts, events, and decorations.
Library instruction classes, in-person and virtual.
Create and update library tutorial videos.
Teaching individual students how to navigate physical and digital library resources, information and digital literacy, AI usage, and other subjects as needed.
Training students & PT workers, including proper shelving techniques, database fundamentals, and ensuring library assistants comprehend policies and procedures.
Assist in weeding the collection.
Interlibrary loan service using OCLC WMS ILL system and maintain statistics.
Assist dual credit students with available resources, helping with logging in, demonstrating how to use resources, and establishing user accounts. Create library surveys, analyze and share survey results.
Assist technical services cataloging new materials, withdrawing materials, covering and repairing books.
Keep statistics on library instruction, interlibrary loan, reference questions, books covered and repaired.
Review and advise on policies and procedures manual.
Review and advise on database subscriptions.
Manage patrons.
Other duties as assigned.
Be available to work as needed to ensure all library hours are covered.
Minimum Position Requirements Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program
High level of technical/digital skills with teaching experience

Must be able to work in a typical office environment, including appropriate computer skills
Supervisory Responsibilities 0 Full-Time Direct Reports 2-4 Part-Time Direct Reports
Physical Demands and Work Environment (BELOW is the ‘standard’; some positions may have alternative items as well)
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.
