The School seeks a part‑time pre‑professional librarian, i.e., someone who plans to earn their Master’s in Library Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and dependability, as well as strong multitasking and self‑starter skills. Experience working with 5th‑12th graders, experience in libraries, or an interest in librarianship as a career is highly desirable.
This is a 10‑month position for 19 hours per week, beginning in late August 2026.
Responsibilities
Operating the circulation desk.
Supervising students in the library and enforcing library policies, as well as providing library coverage when librarians are not on site.
Creating visually appealing library bulletin boards and book displays.
Managing the library’s social media.
Processing new books and repairing book damages.
Collection maintenance, including weeding out‑of‑date library materials, inventory and shelving books.
Performing other library‑related duties as assigned by the director.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Demonstrated commitment to community and inclusion work.
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a Master’s in Library Science.
Computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Skills
A genuine commitment to building relationships with students and colleagues.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to work independently.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The ability to work collaboratively.
A good sense of humor.
Physical Requirements
Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching, as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
Salary: $22–$27 per hour.
