Reports to: Building Principal
Job Goal
To provide the school community with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual proving and growth, and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources
Performance Responsibilities
Evaluates, selects and requisitions new library materials
Assists school administration in establishing library policy and procedure
Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials
Informs teachers and other staff members concerning the acquisition of new materials
Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials, and instructs teachers and students on use of the system
Plans and teaches use of the library and library materials
Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities
Helps students develop habits of independent use of library materials and skill in the use of materials in relation to planned assignments
Presents and discusses materials with a class studying a particular topic, on the invitation of the teacher
Participates at curriculum meetings and parent-teacher organizations
Performance Responsibilities (continued)
Cooperates with reading specialists in giving reading guidance to Students who have special reading problems or unusual intellectual interests and assists all students in selecting materials appropriate to their interests and abilities
Arranges for frequently changing book-related displays and exhibits that are likely to interest the library's patrons
Helps prepare and administer the library budget
Trains and supervises library aides in the performance of their duties
Inventories all print and non-print library materials and submits an annual report of these materials
Assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

Working Conditions
May occasionally be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
Frequent interruption of tasks to support students, staff, parents/guardians, community members, and visitors.
Must occasionally work nights/extended days due to school functions.
Must be able to assist others by moving around the school and grounds.
Must be able to lift and move 40 lbs.
Repetitive hand motion (e.g., keyboard, typing) or voice-to-text.
Employees shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout their employment with the District.
