Team Overview
The Design department is responsible for developing innovative, practical, and fully coordinated mechanical and electrical building services solutions tailored to each project. Working closely with clients, project teams, and the BIM department, the design team transforms concepts into detailed, build-ready technical designs that meet regulatory standards, client specifications, and sustainability goals. Their work underpins the technical accuracy and efficiency of our installations, ensuring seamless integration from planning through to construction.

Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Apprentice to provide practical, real-world mechanical engineering experience within the rapidly growing alternative energy and low-carbon heat sector. You will be supported by an established mechanical and electrical design team and will gain exposure to mechanical design, coordination, site activity and commissioning, helping you understand how projects move from concept through to operation.

Location: Dundalk, Co. Louth

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pm

Salary: Competitive Depending on Experience

Responsible to: Building Services Manager

What You'll be Doing
This role involves preparing comprehensive mechanical design proposals, including detailed installation drawings, plant selection, and technical schedules, alongside performing heating and hot water load calculations to ensure accurate system sizing. It includes developing project-specific BMS control panel designs and operation descriptions, conducting site surveys of existing and new property services to identify suitable heating solutions, and producing reports based on findings. The position also requires attending design meetings, collaborating closely with contracts managers and commissioning teams to support system commissioning and optimize BMS performance, and working within an established design team using advanced AutoCAD and MEP 3D design software.
