Join the Algonquin Library’s team of innovators! We’re searching for a tech-oriented maker who is eager to share their crafting expertise and enthusiasm with our community in the Makerspace.
Key Responsibilities
Atmosphere: Foster a welcoming, supportive environment where patrons of all skill levels feel empowered to create.
Instruction: Develop and lead engaging workshops on topics ranging from basic sewing to advanced digital fabrication.
Expert Guidance: Assist patrons in navigating design software and machinery including 3D printers, Cricut/Silhouette, laser cutters, and sewing/embroidery machines.
Tech Maintenance: Ensure peak performance of equipment through proactive maintenance and technical troubleshooting.
Program Promotion: Create compelling promotional content for our newsletter and social media to showcase what’s possible in the space.

Qualifications & Skills
Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience: Minimum of one year of public service experience in an educational or instructional capacity. Previous experience in a library setting is a plus.
Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of emerging technology and capability to quickly master new software and hardware.
Proficiency in Google Office Suite and general technical problem-solving.
Strong understanding of digital-to-physical workflows, including file types, conversion, and importing/exporting for production.
Proficiency in design software (Silhouette Studio, Cricut Design Space, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Inkscape, Tinkercad programs, or similar) is highly preferred.
Maker Skill Set: A robust background in creative DIY projects and a genuine passion for teaching hands‑on skills to a diverse audience.
