Job Title
Clerical Assistant
Job Description
Responsible for performing clerical tasks in the library and maintaining good customer service relations with the patrons. Work is performed under the direction of the Branch Manager and Central Library Manager of Borrower's Services. No supervision is exercised over other employees.
Essential Functions
Checks library materials in and out. Empties book drop, answers directional questions and registers borrowers.
Packs and unpacks delivery shipment.
Handles paging slips by retrieving items to be sent to another library.
Orders supplies for library as instructed.
Processes overdue items, billing, handles cash through collections and special notices
Resolves patron concerns regarding claims returns, damaged items, etc.
Manage patron holds and patron records
Prepares monthly statistics
Records and processes periodicals and pulls the old ones for deletion
Removes items from the hold shelf and returns same to other libraries
Prepares a weekly cash summary for delivery to the Central Library
Ability to work nights and weekends
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to interact successfully with staff and the public.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of public library policy, services, practices, plans and problems.
Ability to work nights and weekends.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
