Job Summary
Perform a variety of tasks at the Circulation desk and will be expected to work in other departments as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all cash register functions related to patron activities for overdue fines, lost item charges, or the sale of items available at the Circulation desk.
Using library system, checks items in/out; prepares and organizes items to be shelved; returns items to shelves in proper order; maintains patron registration; receives and processes requests for book reserves and/or document delivery.
Provides customer service to all library patrons; explains library policies and procedures; instructs patrons on the use of photocopiers and printers; provides routine information; refers patrons to librarian for reference assistance.
Answers phone and provides general library information or refers callers as appropriate.
Provides other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent; or six-months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Adept in office systems and technology.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Resourceful and determined to provide a positive experience for others.
Detail oriented.
Ability to anticipate needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and experience working in an academic library.
