Description
Do you love books and the performing arts? The New York Public Library has been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas and education for all New Yorkers for more than 100 years. A Page position will give you knowledge about what it means to work within a library. You will have access to a wealth of knowledge and experience which will allow you to decide if a library or museum is where you want to begin your career. We are looking for creative candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic, are reliable, and possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. You will be expected to be an ambassador for the library, so a friendly demeanor goes a long way.
The Programming and Production Page position helps provide quality free and open events for all communities at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (LPA) at Lincoln Center. Public programming produces a dynamic set of both in person and hybrid events designed to engage patrons with our collections and highlight and amplify our mission of inspiring the next generation of performing artists and arts lovers.
The library page position is scheduled for 19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and some evenings and Saturdays. Schedules are variable based on library needs and may be subject to change.
Key Responsibilities
Arrive to shift to get briefed on details and logistics of upcoming events.
Assists with event operations, day to day tasks, and administrative tasks related to performance venues and other programmable spaces.
Supports the technical team and event staff team in the during, and in advance of, live events and programs.
Helps to ensure that programs and events run smoothly from both the perspective of the artist and backstage .
Work through the end of each program to assist artists & presenters, alongside staff.
Answer questions about other offerings of the Library for the Performing Arts and wayfinding, including directing patrons to correct service points and using knowledge of our our collections to execute library functions

Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Required Education and Certifications
Current enrollment in a degree program at an accredited school
Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law
Required Skills
Ability to handle a wide variety of personalities and situations with diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness
Familiar with registration technology and knowledgeable with event etiquette
Experience with Google Workspace apps, Microsoft Office using both macOS and Windows
Excellent customer service skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Interest in or knowledge of performing arts disciplines, Stage Management experience or training is a plus.
Interest in or knowledge of the Library for the Performing Arts
