Primary Purpose
Intellectual and physical access to information.
Learning experiences that encourage users to become discriminating consumers and skilled creators of information.
Leadership, instruction, and consulting assistance in the use of instructional and information technology.
Resources and activities that contribute to lifelong learning.
Provide technology training and support for teachers and campus professionals in areas such as online materials and resources, interactive classroom components, 21st Century technology tools, and other training and support as deemed necessary by campus and district administrators.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Texas teaching certificate.
Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certification or endorsement (preferred).
Master’s degree (preferred).
Experience: Minimum three years teaching experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Plan long-range goals of the media center program with faculty, administration and students.
Plan the budget with the administration, and/or campus committees, based on the needs and objectives of the media center program.
Administer the budget according to the goals and objectives of the media center program.
Meet periodically with the principal to evaluate and discuss goals and accomplishments for improving the media center program.
Develop and/or implement media center policies.
Serve as teacher, materials expert/administrator, and curriculum advisor to ensure that the media center program is involved in instructional programs of the school; work collaboratively with teachers toward common instructional goals.
Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the media center program and make changes based on the findings.
Organize and maintain the media center as a functional, attractive, safe and orderly environment for optimal use by students and faculty.
Promote the media center programs, services, and materials.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date automated library circulation system.
Train and supervise media center clerical staff, volunteers, and/or student helpers as applicable.
Follow the district approved selection policy.
Possess broad knowledge of the school curriculum and plan with teachers and administration for development of collection of materials to support the curriculum.
Provide instruction and training to students, teachers, and other campus professionals in the appropriate use of educational resources in a variety of formats to reinforce and extend the district curriculum, to meet individual student needs, and to support all district technology initiatives.
Develop a balanced collection of print, multimedia, and electronic resources, in accordance with the school board approved selection policy that is based on curriculum and user need and reflects a diverse community; ensure that all materials and facilities are appropriately organized, scheduled and easily accessible.
Demonstrate professional responsibility by attending workshops, conferences and in-service sessions as appropriate.
Encourage and promote parental, student and community involvement in the media center program.
Comply with federal and state laws, approved ECISD Board policies and campus policies, rules and regulations.
Provide ongoing staff development opportunities support for teachers on the availability and use of campus and district technology resources, including, but not limited to, online programs and tools, 21st Century technology initiatives, and interactive classroom components.
Working Conditions
