Marquee Skydeck is Tao Group Hospitality’s exclusive summer pop-up nightclub, launched in partnership with Edge at Hudson Yards — the highest indoor/outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere. This 21+ experience features world‑class DJs and the iconic energy of the Marquee brand, all set 1,100 feet above New York City.
The
Barback
stocks and re‑stocks all bar inventories and supplies while maintaining the organization of the bar. Assists bartenders and cocktail servers (when applicable) in all aspects of guest service. Interacts with the bar guests, fellow team members, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality.
Essential Functions
Anticipate and accommodate the needs of the guests in a timely manner.
Provides professional and exceptional service.
Helps to ensure the delivery of all food and beverage to the guests.
Maintain general cleanliness of bar, bar area, and the entire venue.
Follow supervisor’s instructions, communicate with and support co‑workers while being a team player.
Possesses general knowledge of all food and beverage menus.
Complies with Department of Health and company sanitation standards.
Works as part of a team and provides help and support to all fellow team members.
Assists bartenders by restocking, cleaning, and supporting service needs to ensure fast, high‑quality bar operations.
Communicates the needs of the guests to Front‑of‑House and Heart‑of‑House support staff, managers, and chefs.
Properly sets up the bar stations, performs side‑work and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management, including:
Makes sure the bar and bar area is clean and free of debris.
Sets bar with proper equipment, and settings as required.
Wipes down bar‑top, bar stools, lounge tables, and chairs.
Stocks bar stations with prescribed supplies.
Prepares various types of garnishes for beverages and cocktails.
Completes opening duties as assigned or directed.
Completes closing duties as assigned or directed.
Responsible for emptying the trash from behind the bar and disposing of it correctly.
Responsible for keeping clean and organized to company standard all back‑of‑house storage and refrigeration.
Responsible for keeping all liquor displays and shelving organized and maintaining par levels.
Responsible for reporting all breakage, and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management.
Attends and participates in daily pre‑service meetings.
Attends and participates in any training sessions or departmental meetings.
Learn by listening, observing other team members, and sharing knowledge while leading by example.
Portrays a positive and professional attitude.
Demonstrates knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments.
Assist and/or complete additional tasks as assigned.
Training Requirements
Tao Group Hospitality in‑venue barback training
Education / Working Knowledge
Min 1-year previous barback experience or equivalent related Tao Group Hospitality experience
Previous experience in a high‑volume restaurant
ightclub/lounge.
Skills / Physical Demands / Work Environment / Schedule
Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate
Must have good positive energy throughout the day
Must be able to print legibly for Team Members, management, and guests to read
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to move quickly
Must be able to push and lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance
Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke, the severity of which depends upon the guest volume
May work extended hours irregular shifts, evening and/or weekend shifts, and holiday work may be required
Exposure to cleaning materials
Office, Casino, Nightclub, Bar, Lounge, and/or Restaurant working environment
Maintain a professional, neat, and well‑groomed appearance adhering to Company standards
Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co‑workers in a professional, courteous manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to handle a fast‑paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
