We are looking for a Childcare Music Instructor to join us at our School of Rock Syosset/Oyster Bay location.

School of Rock is looking for an enthusiastic Instructor for our Little Wing (ages 4-5) and Rookies (ages 6-7) classes. Little Wing and Rookies Instructors will help create a warm, supportive, and inspiring environment for young musicians aged 4-7, and encourage young children to reach their developmental milestones through fun musical activities and playing rock and roll musical instruments. We teach five core areas at School of Rock - keys, vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage.
Music Instruction
Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
Ensure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
Customer Connection
Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons
Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program
Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
Assist in recruiting and enrolling students
Skill Requirements
4+ years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
Passion for and/or experience working with children under the age of seven
Classroom/early childhood education experience preferred
Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design; concepts in music like rhythm, notation, pop and rock genres
Excellent ability to deal well with a wide range of customers, including but not limited to children and parents
Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
Strong organizational skills
Very strong customer relations skills on the phone and in person
Resourceful and good problem-solver
Works well under pressure
Proficient on at least one: guitar, keyboard/piano, drums, voice
Good judgment a must
Part time, some weekend day availability required
