Department: Communications/Phone Operator
Work Hours: This full-time position requires the selected candidate to be available for 2-12 hour shifts with start times 6a-6p, 6p-6a and 2-8 hour shifts per week with start times at 10a-6:30p. Occasional relief for the following 10 hour shifts, 6am-4:30p, 8am-6:30pm. This position requires every other weekend, and holidays as required. Cross-campus responsibilities are not required for this assignment, office location is Heritage Valley Sewickley.
Operate the hospital switchboard to answer, transfer and respond to general information questions to all incoming and outgoing calls. Monitor and control the paging and alarm systems according to established policy and procedure. Processes emergency calls in a fast and efficient manner.
Requirements
Basic knowledge gained through achievement of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Knowledge of communication procedures, typing and computer skills.
Preferred
Switchboard experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
Solid understanding of communications systems, their operations and how they interact with hospital personnel.
Strong organizational skills.
