Responsibilities

Position Summary
The Nurse Educator/Resource Nurse is a registered nurse who serves as a primary clinical educator and onunit nursing resource for psychiatric nursing staff. This role is primarily focused on training, education, and staff development, delivered through classroombased instruction and realtime, onunit coaching to support safe, therapeutic, and evidencebased care.

The position reports directly to Nursing Leadership, with a dottedline relationship to Human Resources to support clinical onboarding, mandatory trainings, annual education requirements, and semiannual Skills Fair education planning. To ensure required nursing education is accessible across all shifts, the Nurse Educator/Resource Nurse may occasionally adjust work hours to meet operational needs related to mandatory training delivery, in accordance with nonexempt scheduling practices.

In addition to education responsibilities, the Nurse Educator/Resource Nurse functions as a handson clinical resource when needed, providing onunit support to promote patient safety, staff confidence, and effective unit operations. This role supports regulatory compliance and quality of care through education, coaching, and modeling of best practices and does not include direct supervisory or disciplinary authority.

Required
Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
Minimum 3-5 years of Behavioral Health or Psychiatric nursing experience.
Demonstrated clinical competence in psychiatric nursing practice.
Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
Prior experience in nursing education, charge nurse, or preceptor roles.
Certification in PsychiatricMental Health Nursing (RNBC or equivalent).
Experience with restraint and seclusion training or Behavioral Health regulatory compliance.
Experience with quality improvement or staff development initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a clinical educator and onunit resource for psychiatric nursing staff
Plan and deliver nursing education through classroom instruction and realtime, onunit coaching
Provide training related to psychiatric assessment, documentation, milieu management, deescalation, restraint and seclusion standards, medication administration, and patient safety
Support ongoing staff development and reinforce evidencebased nursing practice
Function as a handson resource nurse during highacuity situations and complex clinical scenarios
Newhire clinical onboarding
Annual mandatory nursing trainings
Semiannual education planning and Skills Fairs
Assist with coordination of staff attendance for new and recurring mandatory trainings
May occasionally adjust work hours to support mandatory nursing education, consistent with nonexempt scheduling practices
