Our Santa Monica Hospital is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to join our Orthopedic Surgery Department. Our Clinic provides orthopedic care for patients with new injuries affecting a bone, joint, tendon, or muscle. Primary responsibilities include:
Conduct human muscle and small animal tissue experimentation
Laboratory maintenance
Specimen preparation including purifying DNA, protein and RNA from cells and tissues
Assist in snRNA-sequencing data processing
Data organization, management, and analysis from experiments
Other research and lab duties as assigned
Salary range: $28.69/hr - $34.21/hr
Please note: this is a 5 month limited position that may convert to career
Qualifications
Experience in cell culture protocols
Ability to recognize and use technical terminology related to muscle anatomy and function
Ability to use and maintain histological equipment
Experience in data processing and analysis (R studio, statistics, etc.)
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and others
Knowledge of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, graphic software, etc.
Ability to maintain accurate inventory of supplies and laboratory instruments
