Pay Rate $24-28/hr - depending on experience
The primary role of the leather cutter position is to cut out, and sort cut leather pieces using an electric hand cutting machine. Moderate lifting and standing for extended periods of time required.
Job responsibilities
• Read production tickets or work orders to determine dimensions, cutting locations, and quantities to cut.
• Unroll, lay out, attach, or mount leather hides and denim rolls on cutting tables.
• Position templates and measure materials to locate specified points for layouts or to obtain maximum yields using rules, scales, or patterns.
• Mark cutting lines around patterns or templates, or follow layout points using squares, rules and straightedges, with chalk or pencils.
• Mark and cut denims, following measurements and guidelines provided.
• Hand cut out leather pieces by marked patterns with scissors or an electric leather cutter.
• Organize and pair the pattern pieces according to each part; e.g. all inside back pieces together, inside arms (verifying pairs), seats, cushions, etc.
• Inspect articles, as well as examine repair tags and markings on articles, to locate defects or damage. Mark errors as necessary.
• Roll and prepare kit for sewing machine operators.
• Transport completed kits to next workstation.
• Keep accurate records and notes.
• Sharpen cutter blades and replace blades as needed.
• Keep workspace clean and organized.
PAY RATE: $18-22/hour, depending on experience
Job requirements
• At least 3 years of experience in leather cutting
