Job Summary
APS is seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to identify new business opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth. This role focuses on market analysis, strategic planning, and partnership development within the pipe, construction, and engineering industries.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with proven sales success, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to develop long‑term business strategies while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
This position requires strong strategic thinking, problem‑solving abilities, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
Identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities and potential deals
Develop negotiation strategies and close business agreements
Analyze market trends and develop strategies to stay competitive
Support Account Managers in achieving divisional sales and revenue goals
Monitor bidding databases to identify upcoming project opportunities
Assist with bid preparation and proposal development
Conduct market research on competitor pricing and client needs
Client & Industry Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with current clients, target clients, engineers, municipalities, and industry partners
Conduct visits with municipalities, counties, authorities, and engineering firms alongside Territory Account Managers
Maintain active engagement with channel partners including engineers and manufacturer representatives
Gather and evaluate client feedback to improve services and operations
Industry Presence & Networking
Attend industry conferences, networking events, and client engagements
Represent APS at trade shows and conferences as an exhibitor or attendee
Maintain involvement in industry associations such as:
FTBA
FRWA
APWA
Strategic Planning & Leadership
Research industry trends and innovative business opportunities
Develop long‑term strategic growth plans
Work with Area Managers and manufacturers to position preferred products on APLs
Assist Account Managers in developing action plans to exceed revenue goals
Promote a strong, collaborative team culture within APS
Operations & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of contacts, opportunities, and proposals within APS systems and CRM tools
Plan and manage projects efficiently
Utilize company‑approved tools and resources to optimize customer engagement
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the Pipe, Construction, or Engineering industry
3+ years of leadership experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven ability to negotiate and close deals effectively
Experience with sales planning and meeting sales targets
Strong understanding of market trends and customer needs
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of Pipe Cleaning, Inspection, or Rehabilitation industry experience
