Position Overview

If this sounds like you then Cox Media Group Dayton has an opening for a part‑time radio board‑operator/producer position on our industry award‑winning radio team.
The successful candidate will be an expert at multi‑tasking, tech savvy and familiar with on‑air radio equipment. This is a critical job and during a shift, our board operator/producers are responsible for managing and monitoring our programming on air as well as providing engineering support for local & nationally syndicated talk shows serving tens of thousands of listeners every hour. This position will put you right in the middle of our fast‑paced news environment where you will serve as the technical producer for live newscasts, as well as managing on‑air breaking news and severe weather situations. To be successful you will thrive on being prepared, innovating workflows, multi‑tasking during shows and when the situation demands it, you will have the ability to trouble‑shoot issues under pressure while keeping your cool. Candidates should be able to run a radio board and feel confident on air while they gain valuable airtime and industry experience learning with the best in the business. This position reports to the Assistant Program Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Flawless technical execution (running the board) for live newscasts, syndicated talk shows, as well as, breaking news and severe weather events
Must be able to multitask and be very well organized
Monitor multiple sources for breaking news, traffic problems and weather alerts
Understanding and ability to implement Emergency Alert System
Assisting anchors with breaking news/editing audio using Adobe Audition
Voicing on air traffic reports
Anchoring News
Writing and voicing 3 big reports
Screening and operating phone calls
Voictracking for our music stations
Uploading podcasts for local talk shows
Working in conjunction with station on air talent and station on air clients, remote location equipment.
Executing on air contests
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Reliability

A commitment to high performance
Weekend, evening & on call availability a must
Must be detail oriented, self‑motivator, troubleshooter
Knowledge of editing software including Adobe Audition
Prefer 1-2 years of on air and production experience
Preferred Qualifications
Strong computer, digital and social media expertise preferred
