Position Summary
Reporters/Researchers work in person in the Investigative Reporting Workshop (IRW) newsroom during the summer months, beginning at or around June 1st. This is a part‑time position.

Responsibilities
Duties include research, fact‑checking, filing public‑records requests, analyzing data, interviewing subjects and experts, and other tasks as they arise. At the direction of IRW editors and our journalism publishing partners, reporters/researchers may work on stories across a wide range of topics, including police use of force, political funding, and the release of toxic chemicals in water and air. These stories often focus on the accountability of government agencies.

Essential Functions
Support IRW’s investigations by researching, fact‑checking, filing public record requests, and interviewing subjects and experts.
Request and analyze public data.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Type & Expected Hours
Part‑time.
20 – 27 hours per week.

Salary Range
$22.50 per hour.

Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Less than 1 year of relevant experience.

Preferred Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
1‑3 years of relevant experience.
