
Operational Support Specialist – Industrial Design

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Operational Support Specialist – Industrial Design at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for executing event support functions, including exhibit maintenance, product updates, fulfillment, freight and material handling for the OEM / Corporate Design Department.
Essential Functions
Collaborate with team members in the assembly, maintenance, inventory, and organization of event products, kiosks, and supporting elements
Work with department leaders and internal clients to identify event schedules, shipment orders, support needs, and asset requirements
Follow pre- and post-show processes to monitor asset status, support request fulfillment, maintain product tracking, prepare shipments, and inspect returning event assets and supporting elements
Support shipment preparation, freight handling, electronic database updates, transfer coordination, supplier / driver check in, load staging and shipping container blocking and repairs
Work with department leaders and the shop administrator on identifying damaged / worn components, developing repair plans, and facilitating repairs of event exhibits, products, and kiosks
Work with Senior Operational Support Specialist in the coordination of offsite storage, inter-campus trailer and event asset movements
Maintain support area, tool and event supply and replacement component inventory
Work with the shop administrator identifying shop improvements and supporting approved implementation plans
Some travel required
Basic Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Operations Management, Project Management, Equipment Maintenance, Occupational Safety, or another related field AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of shop safety procedures, and experience working with shop equipment: saws, drill press, sanders, and power hand tools, etc.
Self-motivated, individual contributor that demonstrates strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with others
Able to safely operate pallet jack and forklift and lift 50+ pounds using safe lifting techniques
Must be able to complete training and maintain certification for multiple forklift types
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Project Management, Equipment Maintenance, Occupational Safety or another related field
Previous warehouse or related experience
Previous trade show or related experience
Woodshop, metal shop, or other workshop experience
Experience with occupational safety – safety policies / procedures
Experience with Tradeshow / Event operations
