Network Infrastructure Design Quality Engineer , Global Cabling Quality

You’ll join software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other essential roles. You’ll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest cost for customers.
Key Job Responsibilities
Work with our data center design engineering teams, network new product team, and construction teams to integrate quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in design reviews, page turns, and Building Information Modeling reviews for Basis of Design documents and construction drawing sets, providing Quality Assurance representation to ensure standards are met from concept through construction.
Influence design teams, construction partners, and other stakeholders to adopt quality assurance checklists that validate conformance to Amazon, Industry, and jurisdictional standards during critical milestone checks for design, construction, and cabling activities.
Gather feedback from internal stakeholders and refine quality processes based on their needs.
Verify that designs and construction meet standards by reviewing documentation and data from milestone inspections.
Document and align design standards and standard operating procedures as new technology integrates into our infrastructure.
Conduct training with partner teams to ensure consistent execution across all projects.
Own the quality process from early design reviews through training delivery.
Partner with the Information Communication Technology Design team to ensure network pathway infrastructure designs align with Data Center Construction build plans.
Define and maintain updates of Quality Assurance documents including inspection checklists and installation requirements.
Implement review mechanisms for new designs and design updates to identify installation gaps and create standard operating procedures to manage remediation plans.
Monitor deployments and collect lessons learned on network pathway quality.
Define Network Pathway Infrastructure Quality Training Programs and create training materials, to support stakeholders and vendors.
Define quality and operational metrics to effectively measure performance and success.
Perform regional and local travel up to 25% to perform site visits and meetings for onsite quality standards review and collect feedback from onsite personnel.
A Day in the Life
As a member of this team, you will be charged with visiting our data centers and ensuring that we are following AWS and Industry standards while also collecting lessons learned so we are continually improving. You will work directly with engineers, managers, and operations teams across the company to develop and improve network pathway and installation standards based on these observations and lessons learned.
Basic Qualifications
Experience presenting root cause analysis and error correction from operational events to senior management.
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
4+ years of experience in network pathway infrastructure design or installation in data center environments.
Proficiency of NEMA VE1/VE2 or IEC 61537 for cable tray construction and installation.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
Experience conducting quality inspections in live data center environments with engagement of contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
Experience managing quality across the full project lifecycle, from design review through installation validation and defect remediation.
Knowledge of end-to-end moderate to complex scale program management methodologies and tooling.
BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent (e.g., CDCDP, DCDC, etc.).
Proven track record of ability to identify creative and innovative solutions to improve quality, reliability, or maintainability.
