The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Coordinator to join our Design and Development team, supporting boutique restaurant projects throughout the construction and design process. This role is heavily focused on construction documentation, technical detailing, and project coordination, while also contributing to design development and FF&E selection. You will work closely with senior designers and project teams to bring high-quality restaurant environments to life. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This is an opportunity to work on well-known hospitality brands including Culinary Dropout, Blanco Cocina & Cantina, The Henry, and more. This position is based out of our corporate office, a.k.a. The Big Kitchen, in Phoenix, AZ.
Key Responsibilities
Produce and maintain construction document (CD) drawing sets in AutoCAD (plans, elevations, sections, details)
Translate design concepts into accurate, buildable technical drawings
Develop test fits and space planning layouts
Build SketchUp models and 3D studies to support design development, produce finished renderings and create presentation packages
Create detailed millwork and custom furniture shop drawings
Assist in development and coordination of finish plans, RCPs, and interior elevations
Collaborate with senior designers on FF&E selection and material palettes
Support budgeting, specifications, and procurement coordination
Follow project schedules and create and follow tracking documents (Excel)
Assist with construction administration, including:
Submittal reviews for design intent and accuracy
RFI review and coordination
Drawing updates and revisions during construction
Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and vendors to ensure alignment across all project documentation
Qualifications
Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
2–5+ years of experience in an architectural or interior design firm
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
Working knowledge of SketchUp
Experience producing construction document sets
Understanding of architectural and interior detailing, including millwork
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Proficiency in Excel for project tracking
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Experience
Experience in hospitality or restaurant design
Experience with millwork detailing and custom furniture design
Familiarity with FF&E procurement processes
Experience working with brand standards or prototype documents
Familiarity with construction administration processes
