JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
MANAGING ATTORNEY – SIERRA VISTA, ARIZONA
DESCRIPTION: SouthernArizonaLegalAid, Inc. (SALA) is hiring a Managing Attorney to work in its Sierra Vista office. SALA serves nine counties in Arizona and eleven Indian Reservations. The office provides legal services to Cochise, Graham, and Greenlee County residents. The Managing Attorney will supervise a staff attorney and two paralegals and provide civil legal services in a variety of cases including contested domestic relations, evictions, public benefits, and consumer cases.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have at least five years of legal experience, including supervisory experience, and be a member of the Arizona Bar or pass the next exam; applicants licensed for 2 years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule. Experience in legal services is helpful.
Applicants must exhibit a high degree of sensitivity to the problems of the low‑income community and should be able to work with low‑income and community groups. They should have initiative, effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a multi‑cultural setting.
Applicants should be knowledgeable in the area of general civil practice on behalf of the low‑income community.
COMPENSATION
Salary range $58,656–$101,915 DOE plus management premium. $10,000; up to 5% additional compensation available to individuals fluent in Spanish. SALA provides financial assistance to attorneys responsible for law school loans. SALA has an excellent benefits package including health insurance, pension plan, and generous leave provisions. SALA will pay up to $3,000 to support relocation to Arizona.
