Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform mechanical design of transformer components including main task, piping, support structures, transportation requirements, lifting and handling attachments, coservator system, sound reduction panels, heat exchanger/cooling system, coil/core and insulation and internal structures.

SUMMARY
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Design the architectural layout, develop, or modify transformer mechanical products, applying engineering principles

Review specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts, utilizing knowledge of mechanical parts as well as computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Make detailed models, searches out materials, components, and systems of the product; presents a preliminary design for review, and, if approved, finalizes designs and deliverables.

Participate in continuous improvement of proprietary design software in cooperation with corporate development team.

Participate in internal and customer design review meetings to assist in mechanical design related discussions as necessary.

Train Associate Mechanical Engineers on internal software, Manufacturing practices, and testing protocol

Register design outputs such as design documents, BOMs, drawings and models to SAP systems or other document control systems to meet design schedule requirements.

Interface with Korean Design team to perform the mechanical design for transformer and associated components.

Interface with drafting team to support the preparation of mechanical related drawings for transformers and components.

Support purchasing department during quotation, including cost and delivery estimates, based on design information and drawings.

Develop cost-reduction methods and track the performance of these methods across projects.

Support and make recommendation to improve Company policies and procedures.

Support production regarding design related issues during manufacture of the transformer.

Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Hyosung HICO through interaction with other HICO division and vendors.

Know HICO's Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline; 4-8 years' experience in engineering, or equivalent education and experience.

Developed analytical skills.

Strong computer skills, emphasizing knowledge of MS Office products, CAD, and engineering analysis.

Ability to use office equipment, such as: PC, photocopier, fax, machine, etc.

Ability to travel domestic and international up to 20% of the time.

Ability to read, understand and create technical drawings and material.

Ability to analyze data.

Ability to communicate with others to complete work.
