Massachusetts Farm to School Communications Consultant Massachusetts Farm to School (MFTS) is seeking a Communications Consultant to support MFTS staff in the development and refinement of communications strategy and resources. The Consultant will engage in outreach projects/tasks to advance MFTS’s program and policy priorities.
COMPENSATION $40/hr approximately 10-15 hours per week
TIMELINE April 15 – through December 31, 2026
OVERVIEW Massachusetts Farm to School was founded in 2004 as a grassroots initiative to increase access to healthy, locally-grown food in schools and other institutions across the state. Our mission is to strengthen local farms and fisheries and promote healthy communities by increasing local food purchasing and education at schools. We believe that all students – regardless of race, place, or class – deserve access to local foods and food education in school.
Massachusetts Farm to School works in the following ways to impact local food procurement, promotion, and education in institutions across the state:
Provide training and technical assistance to school food service professionals, farmers and fishermen, distributors, educators, and other advocates.
Coordinate local food outreach and promotion through our Harvest of the Month campaign.
Facilitate networking of farm‑to‑school practitioners.
Provide leadership to advance policies that support expanded farm‑to‑school activity.
SCOPE OF WORK Develop and edit Harvest of the Month communications, including newsletter content editing, layout & basic design.
Create content for organizational social media, including post drafting & creating graphics.
Editing and laying out website updates.
Develop content for communications pieces that document the impact of MFTS programs and other farm‑to‑school initiatives.
Develop policy communication resources to support advocacy efforts – (ie. community profiles & parent/family advocacy resources).
Create or update promotional materials using existing templates.
