Job Description
Title: Automotive Production Manager - Specialized Program Assistant
Reports To: Career and Technical Education Administration
Location of Work: Van Buren Tech, 250 South Street, Lawrence, MI 49064
Rate of Pay: Placement on Specialized Program Assistant Scale
Schedule: Full-time - 5 days - 35 hrs/wk (7:45am - 3:15pm)
Job Goal(s): The overall job goal of the Production Manager is to manage automotive repair production, manage student workers, ensure quality work on vehicles, and assist the instructors as needed.
Qualifications
Certification: Michigan/ASE Certification Required (or qualifications to obtain)
Work Experience: Demonstrated successful work history in the auto industry
Skills
Possess good interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with students and others
Ability to work as a team player
Ability to work independently
Ability to complete auto repair tasks
Possess basic business skills, including cashier operations, invoicing, billing, and all inventory control record-keeping
Essential Job Functions
Manage daily operation of the Auto Production Department.
Discuss student progress and needs with the instructor on a regular basis.
Assist in monitoring student academic progress.
Participate/be involved with advisory committee meetings.
Inspect and verify work done and test drive after to verify proper function.
Assist instructor with the implementation of student lessons and projects.
Assist students with completing auto-related lessons and projects.
Adapt and learn new technologies related to the auto industry. Assist instructor with creating relationships within the Van Buren County automotive industry.
Participate as a member of a team to assist with problem-solving situations as they relate to student and program needs.
Provide instruction, under the direction of the instructor or substitute teacher, with high school students possessing a full range of abilities.
Monitor lockers, uniforms, safety glasses, and production supplies.
Coordinate (with the parts supervisor) the itemizing and completion of work orders.
Monitor the security and condition of production equipment and tools.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the instructor/administration.
Valid driver's license required.
Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
