Overview
The role will be based in our office located in Raleigh, North Carolina ***

The Business Development professional oversees business development efforts for the Industrial Controls business group, educating and mentoring the team while driving sales and operational excellence. This role collaborates cross‑functionally with engineering, marketing, project management, and account management to position the group for continued success and market expansion.

Responsibilities

Lead efforts to identify new business opportunities, clients, prospects, and new markets.

Collaborate with the Marketing team to provide direction and input on content development such as blog posts, email campaigns, social media posts, infographics, and video, with visibility into performance metrics to help guide ongoing strategy.

Support the execution of content strategy with and through active collaboration with supervisors, project managers, engineers, and the marketing team, ensuring alignment with Egan’s brand, marketing objectives, and growth goals.

Partner with marketing to identify trends in content performance and campaign analytics to adjust strategies accordingly.

Develop and execute business development strategies that align with Egan’s goals and target markets.

Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of Industrial Controls group participation in customer presentations, tradeshows, and events, including managing event budgets, logistics, booth design, setup, and teardown.

Utilize CRM to manage leads and customer engagements.

Coordinate pre‑and post‑event business development and promotional activities to maximize exposure and engagement.

Track event success, gather leads, and compile post‑show reports for analysis and improvement.

Stay informed and keep up with industry trends, technology, and best practices.

Build relationships with potential customers, understanding their needs, pain points, and business objectives.

Generate and qualify new leads through networking, attending industry events, and leveraging partnerships.

Customer outreach including calling, emailing, or reaching out via social platforms to connect with new prospects.

Position Requirements

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial controls and/or trade related experience.

Rockwell products knowledge preferred.

Travel to jobsites and client sites is required.

Willingness and ability to travel overnight occasionally.

High school diploma required.

Qualifications

Knowledgeable in industrial automation, controls integration, UL 508A Panel Shop Solutions and familiarity with OEM and manufacturing controls‑related business opportunities.

Experience managing all phases of tradeshow planning and execution.

Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize competing business/customer needs.

Skilled in technical sales.

Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Willingness and ability to learn and promote other areas of the business.

Knowledge of job scheduling and customer timeline management.

Ability to work independently and self‑direct.

Ability to present to both internal and external groups.

Experience in job cost management and/or financial management— including budgetary constraints.

Ability to read and understand electrical control and power schematics.

Working knowledge of estimating processes and procedures; understands electrical design and engineering estimates.

Proficient within Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Working Conditions

Performance of duties will mostly be in an office environment with visits to job sites.

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

When on jobsites, exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements; climbing ladders/stairs, walking on uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting.
