Senior Technical Writer, Manufacturing Operations

Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Technical Writer to support the Manufacturing Operations team by developing high‑quality documentation that improves production quality, training effectiveness, and manufacturing efficiency. You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and operational leaders to create clear, accurate, and well‑structured content tailored to manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Create & Maintain Technical Documents: Research, develop, update, and manage work instructions, SOPs, training manuals, and other essential documents.

Collaborate with Teams: Work with engineers, technicians, and quality teams to ensure accurate and effective documentation. Share best practices within the technical writing team to enhance the overall documentation framework.

Ensure Clarity & Compliance: Standardize content using documentation tools and ensure alignment with ISO, APQP, and safety standards.

Develop Training Materials: Assist in creating technician‑friendly training content, including step‑by‑step guides and visuals.

Track & Improve Documentation: Use dashboards and tracking tools to monitor documentation updates, report progress, and optimize content based on feedback.

Support Multiple Teams: Support multiple teams within the Manufacturing Operations department by traveling to various Zoox locations when required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field.

10‑15 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in manufacturing, automotive, or engineering environments.

Expert in Oxygen implementation and features (such as reusable content, facets, filters, and conditional formatting, etc. Super user). Familiarity with Jira/Confluence, Dozuki, Adobe and other collaboration platforms.

Proven ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and distill complex technical concepts into clear, user‑friendly content.

Experience working with compliance‑driven documentation (ISO, APQP, or similar frameworks).

Strong project management and organizational skills to handle and report multiple documentation projects.

Bonus Qualifications

Experience developing training programs or instructional design.

Familiarity with 3DX, or CAD visualization tools.

Compensation
$133,000 - $167,000 a year. Base Salary Range: Salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign‑on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level.
