Job Overview
The Manager of Communications and Marketing leads the strategy, development, execution and evaluation of integrated, multichannel communications and marketing initiatives that advance the College of Nursing’s academic programs, research, clinical initiatives and community impact. This role shapes, stewards and elevates the college’s brand identity across digital, social media, web, print and visual communications, ensuring clear, compelling messaging and high‑quality visual standards.
Reports To
Reports to the Executive Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives, with a dotted‑line relationship to the UF Health Communications Director of Strategic Communications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement integrated marketing and communication strategies to promote the college, programs, research, clinical practice and community engagement.
Collaborate with college leadership, faculty and administrative partners to develop consistent, compelling storytelling and messaging.
Provide creative leadership for graphic design and content development; oversee production of print, digital, web and social media assets.
Manage social media strategy, set editorial calendars, monitor metrics and report outcomes to stakeholders.
Develop, maintain and optimize web content on the WordPress platform, ensuring alignment with UF policies, brand standards and accessibility requirements.
Use data, research and performance metrics to assess effectiveness, report results, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Interpret and comply with university and UF Health communications, marketing, branding and media policies.
Supervise communications staff and student interns, providing direction, coaching and performance management.
Lead the internship program: recruit, evaluate, assign interns and provide developmental coaching.
Plan and manage the marketing and public relations budget in collaboration with operations leadership.
Serve as subject matter expert for creative services, design standards, production processes and asset management.
Maintain a searchable archive of all design, marketing and communication assets.
Support special projects, strategic initiatives and emerging needs aligned with college and university priorities.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field, or Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and oral presentation skills.
Proficiency in Associated Press style, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other communications platforms.
Experience managing and coaching a creative or communications team.
Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
Creative, detail‑oriented, customer‑service oriented approach.
Collaboration and collegiality in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred
Experience in higher education and/or health care communications.
Salary
Expected Salary: $70,000–$80,000
