Position Summary
The Video Specialist serves as the primary creative lead for the development and production of video content that supports enrollment initiatives, strengthens brand identity and highlights the student experience. This role independently conceptualizes, produces and manages high-impact video storytelling that advances recruitment efforts and communicates the distinctiveness of Bethel University.
The position oversees video initiatives from campaign concept through final delivery, exercising sound judgment and creative ownership while aligning with Marketing leadership and university-wide priorities. The role provides mentorship and oversight to student workers supporting video production. This position focuses on marketing, recruitment and brand storytelling and does not serve as general campus audiovisual support.
Core Responsibilities
Video Strategy & Campaign Development
Identify and recommend video storytelling opportunities aligned with enrollment, marketing and student experience priorities
Contribute to recruitment and brand campaign planning through video strategy and creative input
Translate institutional messaging into compelling visual narratives
Monitor higher education and digital media trends and implement best practices in video production
Ensure all video content aligns with Bethel's brand standards and institutional messaging
Video Production & Execution
Independently conceptualize, shoot and edit high-quality video content for:
Social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
University website and landing pages
Digital advertising campaigns
Enrollment and visit events
Produce student testimonials, faculty features, academic program highlights and institutional storytelling pieces
Develop short-form and long-form content packages
Publish and optimize video content for platform-specific performance
Maintain and organize a strategic b-roll library for long-term institutional use
Project Management & Workflow Oversight
Manage video projects from concept through final delivery
Maintain production schedules aligned with campaign and event timelines
Coordinate filming logistics with faculty, staff and students
Establish and maintain video production standards and workflow systems
Prioritize projects in alignment with Enrollment Marketing leadership direction and institutional promotional priorities
Student Worker Oversight
Provide mentorship and supervision to student workers supporting video production
Delegate appropriate editing, filming or archival tasks
Ensure quality control of student-produced content
Student Life & Event Support
In collaboration with Student Life leadership, the Video Specialist will:
Develop and produce weekly chapel speaker introduction videos
Create student highlight features that showcase spiritual growth, leadership and campus involvement
Produce promotional video series and campaign-based content supporting Student Life initiatives
Capture and edit select event coverage for promotional use across university marketing channels
Equipment & Production Management
Responsible for managing and maintaining university-owned production equipment, including:
Sony mirrorless cameras and lenses
LED lighting kits
Tripods and stabilizers
MacBook Pro editing workstation
RAID storage systems
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in video production, digital media, new media studies, communications or related field
Demonstrated experience in video production through internships, freelance work or professional employment
Demonstrated proficiency in:
Shooting and editing video
Lighting and audio capture
Color correction and post-production workflows
Ability to manually operate mirrorless camera systems
Strong visual storytelling and composition skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
Preferred Qualifications
1-3 years of professional video production experience
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (DaVinci Resolve acceptable)
Experience in recruitment marketing or higher education storytelling
Knowledge of broader Adobe Creative Suite
Photography experience
