Job Summary The SVP of Communications is a strategic, enterprise-level leader responsible for defining and driving the organization’s communication strategy with a focus on market positioning, reputation management, internal coordination and change management.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the SVP oversees both the internal and external communications functions, integrating these areas under a unified strategy and operating model. The role is a trusted advisor to executive leadership, ensuring that communications reinforce business priorities and key themes are woven through Compass and its operating sectors.
Responsibilities Executive & Enterprise Narrative
Create the company’s overarching messaging and identify the appropriate channels as part of an overarching, cohesive communications strategy
Partner with the CEO and other senior executives to craft and deliver consistent, high-impact communications
Strike the balance between consistent Compass-wide themes and individual, sector-led focus areas
Advise on how to optimize communications for GEO
Crisis & Reputation Management
Provide executive oversight for crisis communication planning, readiness and response
Coordinate closely with other relevant functions, operations and the global communications team, where appropriate, to ensure external messaging aligns with reputational priorities
Monitor reputational risks and develop proactive positioning strategies as needed
Change Management
Define and own the communications strategy for major enterprise initiatives and changes, including system / process implementations
Partner with HR, Business Enablement and business leaders to communicate organizational impact and foster change understanding and engagement
Design scalable communication frameworks that support change across diverse employee populations
Functional Support & Coordination
Oversee relevant support for all corporate functions to ensure communications to the business are planned and sequenced effectively
Align team resources and messaging strategies to ensure coordination, efficiency and message consistency
Manage relationship with creative and content production team to ensure brand and voice standards are maintained
Qualifications Experience in corporate communications or related field, with proven track record in building integrated communications strategy
Deep expertise in internal and external communications in a large, decentralized organization with multiple stakeholders
Ability to build trust with executive leaders; capable of influencing and advising at the most senior levels
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong editorial judgment
Strategic and systems-oriented thinker, comfortable operating in ambiguity
Experience of working for a publicly traded company preferred
