Position: Account Manager
Location: Chatsworth, CA
Pay: $55,000 to $60,000/year
Type: Full-time; Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

HB Staffing is seeking an Account Manager to join a growing and dynamic team!

Account Development & Sales

Identify and engage prospective customers by phone as part of the training and onboarding process

Introduce buyers to the value of secondary-market food and consumable goods

Qualify customers based on capacity, creditworthiness, freight realities, and product fit

Open new customer accounts and retain ownership of those accounts long term

Manage both buy-side and sell-side conversations, ensuring outcomes that work for all parties

Price products appropriately based on shelf life, freight costs, volume, and timing

Respond to urgent, time-sensitive opportunities where product must be moved quickly

Account Ownership

Once accounts are established, manage them independently end-to-end

Maintain relationships with repeat buyers and suppliersCoordinate closely with internal operations and logistics to execute deals smoothly

Track your activity and deals using tools and methods that work best for you

Learning the Business

Learn how to procure product once a core customer base is established

Gain expertise in specific manufacturers or product categories over time

Develop judgment around margins, volume, freight, and timing—there is no one-size-fits-all formula in this business

Position Requirements

Previous sales experience in wholesale food industry

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English

Comfort working on the phone and handling unscripted conversations

Strong listening skills and the ability to interpret customer needs and constraints

Fluency with basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

Working knowledge of Word and Excel, including building spreadsheets (not data entry)

Self-directed mindset and comfort operating without rigid structure

Preferred Qualifications

Sales experience in consumables, including food, HBA, paper, household chemicals, or similar products

Experience in retail, wholesale, brokerage, or commodity-driven sales environments

Background in food distribution, secondary markets, or time-sensitive inventory

Prior telemarketing or inside sales experience (helpful, but not required)
