The Opportunity
Opportunity The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences (COS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for an instructor or lecturer position in the Media Production and Management degree area, anticipated to begin in August 2026.

This is a 9‑month, non‑tenure earning, annually renewable position that offers a clear career path with the possibility of promotion based on years of service and performance.

As an instructor or lecturer, you will contribute to the mission of the Media Production and Management program by teaching undergraduate courses and, depending on the highest degree attained, may teach at the graduate level and support the Film MFA degree by providing critiques, mentoring, and serving on graduate thesis committees.

Instructional duties include teaching in a variety of modalities—including face‑to‑face, mixed‑mode, and online—following the school’s equitable workload policy of four courses per semester.

Additional responsibilities include providing appropriate service in student advising (academic and career), actively participating in the academic life of the school, attending faculty meetings, graduations, assessing student learning, and engaging in committee work.

This position has no research expectations, but research and scholarly activities may be supported.

The ideal candidate will contribute through teaching and service, fostering an environment where faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree (for an instructor) or a terminal degree (for a lecturer) in Radio‑Television, Mass Media Production, Film Production, or a related field (e.g., Film Arts, Mass Communication, etc.) from an accredited institution by time of hire.

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree as their highest degree will be considered for an instructor only if they can document a minimum of ten years of professional experience in television production.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching college‑level, hands‑on production courses in one or more of the following: videography, cinematography, studio/control room production, lighting, editing, production management, audio production, or media management.

Experience executing live sports broadcasts in roles such as technical director, director, camera operator, audio technician, replay operator, graphics operator, and production assistant.

Experience producing and finishing studio‑based or edited content, including videography, lighting, editing, post‑production workflows, sound design, color grading, and audio mixing.

Experience teaching different modalities including face‑to‑face and online.

Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative educational environment with faculty, students, and administrators.

Working familiarity with current production technologies and techniques.
