PSDS Lead Wiring Design Release Engineer

Overview The Role:
The Power and Signal Distribution Systems (PSDS) LeadEngineeris a key positionresponsible for designing and implementing the entire power and signal distribution system for vehicle programs. In this role the employee will oversee design rework, ICDe integration, and release of key prototype deliverables—including prototype rework documentation and 2D stick drawings—to enable higher software fidelity and support high-quality physical builds. This opportunity will require the employee to interface with colleagues around the world, as well as, to lead a team of engineers.The position entails working closely with vehicle program teams, other Product Development engineering groups such as interiors and body/white, chassis, validation, program team, purchasing, marketing, and manufacturing.
What You’ll Do:
Provides program specific requirements for sourcing process

Provides technical background in PSDS supplier technical reviews

Creates initial harness parts list and complexity studies

Maintains consistency of effort for the program - knows the PSDS Statement of Requirements, program, timing, issues, plan etc. and manages details when changes are required

Manages efforts of the supplier within the engineering factory

Identifies and schedules training needs accordingly with EGM approval

Participates in interface tradeoffs and resolves integration issues

Manages the cost, quality, mass, etc. for the power and signal distribution system including content and program changes

Supports Pre-Production build events including both physical and virtual builds

Ensures that the design, development, and electrical release of the Wiring System are integrated within the vehicle architecture with quality

Conducts Product Development Team meetings to ensure deliverables and timing are met

Leadsbenchmarking analysis to support innovation, tradeoff or cost /benefit analysis

Leads Peer and Wire Harness Assessment reviews

Provides assembly plant launch and remediation support

Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs with engineers

Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development

Performs complex design analysis

Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)

Implements engineering changes

Specifies and balances system requirements

Plans and implements test and/or development programs

Releases parts and subsystems for production

Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers

Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products

Travels as required

Interface between TS and DRE on design direction

Directs and facilitates assigned team members to appropriate experts (TS, program electrical architect, program lead wiring engineer, etc.)

Provides complexity reduction ideas as a direct interface with marketing

Leads discussion with program teams on design and execution, i.e. Vapir, VCIT

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry or Physics

Minimum of5 years of professional engineering experience

Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in Power Signal or Wire harness packaging

Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms

Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required

High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and effectively with others

Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area

This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.

Masters Degree

5+ years of engineering experience in Power Signal or Wire harness packaging
