Dispatcher Police
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Police and Public Safety Department seeks Dispatcher Police personnel. Key duties and responsibilities include sending and receiving radio transmissions from sworn and non-sworn field units and surrounding agencies. Answering the telephone and determining the form of assistance required, ensuring units within the department respond or refer the call to other sources for resolution. Performing multi-tasking priorities and maintaining knowledge of all required department policies and procedures. Operating the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal and becoming certified on the same. Operating equipment in the Communications Center. Rotating on all shifts and all days of the week, at the discretion of the Communications Supervisor. Performing other duties as assigned. Starting hourly rate: $17.95.

Minimum qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Ability to type twenty-five (25) WPM required.
