As a host, your responsibility includes a warm greeting, escorting guests to their tables, or making them feel comfortable while they wait for a table. Host/Hostess must be motivated, enthusiastic and highly personable. Hosts are outgoing and able to promote a fun atmosphere. Hosts market the restaurant to new and potential guests by setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience.
Requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Previous experience as a host is preferred, but not required.
Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.
Must be able to work well under pressure and be self‑motivated.
Must have good organizational, time management and sales skills.
Good communication skills—both written and verbal.
Must be dependable, reliable and driven with minimal supervision.
Must possess a high level of awareness, attention to detail and follow‑through.
Must be both effective and efficient at multi‑tasking in pressure situations.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
Sitting, handling, eye‑hand coordination, stooping, kneeling, and walking/standing for multiple hours in succession.
Lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing of up to approximately 21–50 lbs on occasion.
Withstand changes to temperature, occasional smoke, steam and heat.
Work in a confined area for multiple hours in succession.
Reach with hands and arms, talk and hear effectively amidst background noise.
Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Adequate sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations, distinguish product taste, texture, temperature, presentation and preparation.
Perform basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
