Under direct supervision, Summer Interns participate in a ten‑week professional development program designed to provide hands‑on, entry‑level experience aligned with the student’s major field of study and the sponsoring department’s business operations. Interns gain real‑world exposure to OCTA operations and the transportation industry while contributing to meaningful projects and learning from experienced professionals.

As a Summer College Intern, you will be exposed to OCTA’s career opportunities in the transportation industry. You will gain deeper awareness of transportation’s many facets through your OCTA orientation, projects and teams, and internal networking. This internship offers the opportunity to support internal communications initiatives, employee engagement programs, and intranet content development. You’ll assist with communication plans, draft and publish content, maintain project calendars, and help support employee events and programs.

This is a temporary, full‑time internship position (approximately 40 hours per week) and runs for ten weeks during the summer. The pay range is from $19.00–$22.00 per hour depending on your education level.

This posting will remain open until filled.

What You’ll Do

Help develop and execute internal communication plans

Draft and edit articles, email announcements, presentations, and marketing copy

Update and audit OCTA’s intranet content

Support employee events and internal campaigns

Ensure content aligns with OCTA style and branding standards

Assist with photos, videos, and featured employee content

What We’re Looking For

Currently enrolled full‑time college student (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) at an accredited two‑ or four‑year college or university

Students that graduated with their bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in the fall of 2025 or plan to graduate in the spring of 2026 are eligible

Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Public Policy, or a related field

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

Interest in public engagement, multicultural communications, and transportation‑related outreach

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Creative thinker with strong research and analytical skills
