Position Summary
Therma-Stor is seeking a motivated and hands‑on Design Engineering Intern to support the engineering team with the design, development, and testing of products, including residential and commercial dehumidifiers and related environmental control equipment. This role provides real‑world experience in CAD‑based design, electrical controls, automation, and manufacturing support, making it ideal for students interested in product design and applied engineering within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Development

Assist with the design and development of electrical and electromechanical systems used in dehumidifier products

Create and modify CAD models and drawings for components, assemblies, and test fixtures

Support design documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs)

Assist with engineering change requests (ECRs) and design updates for new and existing products

Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross‑functional teams

Controls & Automation Support

Assist in designing and implementing automated firmware or product programming stations

Support development and maintenance of Visual Basic–based tools used on the manufacturing floor

Help improve automation, testing, and programming processes to increase manufacturing efficiency

Electrical Testing & Validation

Assist with testing and validation of electrical controls and components

Support test development and execution using LabVIEW

Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and system integration issues during testing

Data Collection & Analysis

Collect, organize, and analyze test data using Microsoft Excel

Assist with reporting results, identifying trends, and documenting findings

Support validation reports and engineering test documentation

Test Fixtures & Prototyping

Design and build electrical and mechanical test fixtures using CAD and hands‑on fabrication methods

Perform electrical assembly, wiring, and prototype builds

Use hand and power tools to support lab, test, and manufacturing activities

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field

Basic knowledge of analog and digital circuits

Exposure to programming concepts; Visual Basic, LabVIEW, or similar tools preferred

Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Familiarity with electrical or mechanical assembly and laboratory equipment

Preferred Skills

Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks

Exposure to mechanical design, electrical layouts, or product drawings

Interest in product design, manufacturing processes, and design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) principles

Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills

Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and eager to learn

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative, hands‑on environment
