Join a leading hospital system on a high-visibility payroll transformation project supporting Workday Payroll testing and validation. This is a project-based opportunity for a seasoned Payroll professional who thrives in complex, high-volume environments and enjoys ensuring systems are accurate, compliant, and ready for production.
About the Role
As a Payroll Processor IV, you'll play a key role in supporting Project OneLink, focusing on Workday Payroll processing and testing. You'll execute and validate complex payroll scenariosincluding retro processing, absence workflows, and gross-to-net calculationswhile supporting unit, end-to-end, and parallel payroll testing cycles. This role is critical to ensuring payroll system readiness without impacting live production payroll.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Execute and validate Workday Payroll processes, including retro pay, payroll balancing, and pay calculations
Support unit, end-to-end, and parallel payroll testing cycles
Run and validate gross-to-net payroll calculations
Load, manage, and validate payroll integration files
Analyze and resolve payroll discrepancies across test scenarios
Execute and validate absence processing workflows (PTO, ESL)
Ensure payroll operations are thoroughly tested without disrupting production payroll
Required Experience
5+ years of payroll processing experience, with deep expertise in Workday Payroll
Strong experience with:
Retro processing
Payroll balancing
Absence processing
Pay calculations
Experience supporting payroll system testing (unit, end-to-end, parallel)
Ability to validate payroll outputs in high-volume environments
Strong analytical skills for discrepancy identification and resolution
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience with UKG Pro WFM (Workforce Management)
Background supporting ERP or Workday implementations
Experience documenting test cases, results, and defects
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with HRIS, Finance, and IT
Familiarity with large-scale payroll testing initiatives

This is a Contract position based out of Sacramento, CA.
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
