Job Description
With direction from the Director of Construction Accounting, the Senior Construction Accountant completes the accounting duties for the Development department including but not limited to revenue controls, accounts payable, general accounting, collections and accounts receivable.
Responsibilities
Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission Regulations and Seminole Tribe of Florida departmental policies and procedures
Assist the Director of Construction Accounting in monitoring project budgets and meeting with operating management to review budget adherence/results/progress, etc.
Maintain project record and files ensuring the correct storage and retention of all project documentation with particular reference to its security and relevance to future projects or financial audit
Review contractors pay applications and process for payment as appropriate
Interact with contractors to ascertain/communicate necessary financial information
Maintain construction costs reports and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously
Ensure regulatory and Company compliance; work with external and internal auditors to provide information as required
Demonstrate actions and behaviors that reinforce the Company’s Mission and Values of Communication, Integrity, Fun, Respect, Accountability, Passion and Dedication
Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discretely notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations
Ensure prompt and discrete notification to management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts or internal ethics violations
Qualifications
Month-End Close: Perform complex general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
Analytical Skills: Identifying cost overruns and risks.
Detail-Oriented: Ensuring precise documentation.
Communication: Explaining financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Compliance & Control: Manage subcontractor compliance, lien waivers and adherence to GAAP.
Adhere to strict reporting deadlines
Simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects
Demonstrate extreme attention to detail
Excel in a fast-paced environment
Verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor’s Degree and three or more years of experience in an accounting role handling projects in excess of $100 million and above or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
Construction Accounting experience preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel required
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook required
Primavera and Expedition construction software experience preferred
Demonstrated success in job costing, percent complete (progress) billing, progress payments, change order process, RPC’s, lien releases, insurance certificates and purchasing process required
