
Athletic Communications Associate

Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director for Athletic Communications, this position will serve within the Athletic Communications office with responsibilities across multiple sports, including football and select Olympic sports as assigned. The Athletic Communications Associate will assist in the day‑to‑day communications efforts for assigned programs, including media relations, content creation, and event coverage, while gaining exposure to the overall operations of a Division I athletic communications department.
Key Position Details
This is a 9‑month temporary position with an anticipated start date of July 27th.
Starting pay is $18.90 per hour. Temporary positions at CU are not benefits‑eligible, but all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.
Responsibilities
Assist with media relations efforts for assigned sports, including writing and editing press releases, game previews and recaps, updating rosters and bios, and maintaining accurate statistics, records, and historical information.
Support home and select away events, including statistics coordination, media credentialing, postgame/meet results distribution, and serving as a point of contact for coaches, student‑athletes, and media.
Assist with general Athletic Communications office duties, including archival projects, research, record‑keeping, and support of additional sports and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of one year of experience in a college or professional athletics communication office. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Professional demeanor and ability to interact with coaches, student‑athletes, media, and staff.
Initiative, reliability, and sound judgment.
Familiarity with football operations and general knowledge of multiple sports.
Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and college athletics operations.
Experience with statistics software (e.g., StatCrew, Genius) is a plus.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge of or prior experience with the University of Colorado is preferred; former student‑assistants and athletes encouraged to apply.
