Media Arts Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

Overview Kern Community College District is seeking adjunct faculty to teach introductory and advanced video production and animation courses at Bakersfield College. This is a part-time, hourly adjunct pool to staff assignments across multiple campus sites as needed. The starting salary in this listing is shown as $66.00 hourly; actual rate may vary based on assignment type and LHE formula.
Responsibilities Teach introductory and advanced video production and animation courses as assigned.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in video production and animation processes, including script writing, storyboarding, lighting for film, cinematography, and video editing.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects) is preferred; experience with Dragonframe and Maya is advantageous.
Maintain subject-matter currency; develop and revise curriculum; utilize computer and multimedia technology; employ multiple teaching methodologies; participate in departmental and college activities.
Teach across multiple campus sites and modalities, including day/evening classes, weekends, large classes, and distance learning as needed.
Collaborate with colleagues and engage in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities as appropriate.
Assess student learning outcomes and support a diverse student population.
Minimum Qualifications Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience; OR
Any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree and must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
The equivalent may be considered: candidates may request equivalence, with supporting documentation, and degrees/credits must be from accredited institutions.
A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students (as part of the selection criteria).
Knowledge & Abilities Broad and deep knowledge in the discipline and the ability to demonstrate it in teaching.
Ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues and students; strong communication skills in writing and speaking.
Ability to develop and adapt curriculum for multiple delivery modalities; ability to assess student learning outcomes.
Familiarity with technology use in instruction and a willingness to explore new tools to benefit the program.
