Hypersonics Design Engineer

Position Overview Leidos is seeking a talented Hypersonics Design Engineer to support multiple projects in the Advanced Materials Department.
Primary Responsibilities The Hypersonics Design Engineer will work alongside other design engineers, structural analysis engineers, program management, and customers to oversee design and analysis of structures and mechanisms related to hypersonic vehicles.
The position will be within a program team to manage the design and release of production‑ready drawings of hypersonic vehicle structures, mechanisms, parts, subassemblies, and full system assemblies.
Focus will be placed on engineering design and analysis for fabrication; integration of prototypes; development of components; and special test equipment.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 5 years experience.
Proficient with industry CAD software (CREO, SolidWorks) for both 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T, ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack analysis.
Understanding of how tolerancing affects part manufacturing and inspection.
Familiarity with ASME, ASTM material standards, MIL standards.
Experience contributing to TDPs according to MIL‑STD‑31000.
Experience working within a product lifecycle management tool (Windchill).
Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications Structural, thermal, or aero analytical experience.
Strong understanding of hardware development, manufacturing, procurement, production, and integration.
Experience working in a classified design/manufacturing environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is strongly preferred.
Pay Range Pay Range $87,100.00 – $157,450.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, bargaining agreements, or other applicable law.
